Spring Break!

Day 1 of Spring Break was a beautiful, sunny day with 80 degree weather. I figured it would be considered a crime to stay home and not be outside enjoying the beautiful day. We called up our surrogate Grandma to see if she wanted to go to the zoo with us. She did. Yay! We weren't the only ones enjoying the sunshine. The lions and all the cubs were out soaking up the rays. Since the cubs were new, they attracted quite the crowd.
Abi is auditioning to be a lion cub.

Everett and Zachary playing in the prairie dog tunnels. Poor Abi was officially too tall for play on this toy, and was quite put out by this discovery. I consoled her by telling her that when we attend the Great Wolf Lodge this summer, she will be able to go on more slides because she will be taller than the other kids. That perked her right up.

The other three were oblivious to Abi and her pouting. They were having too much fun in the tunnels.

While we ate lunch, Sariah crawled around and sampled leaves.

A we were finishing up, this nasty snake came slithering against the wall where we were sitting. The kids flipped out. I had a hard time keeping myself from hyperventilating. Our Grandma was completely cool as it slithered under her feet. I was grateful that Sariah was in my arms, and that the snake hadn't made it's appearance a few minutes earlier when she was crawling in that spot!

There were so many turtles sunning on rocks. They were cute!

Now this guy wasn't cute, but I don't blame him for laying in the sun. It felt great!

The kids wanted to jump in with the crocodile, because he had a pool. They were getting warm by this time.
The last time we went to the National Zoo in Washington, DC the elephant exhibit was under renovation. It has since been completed, and is amazing!
