Nauvoo day 2.5

Our final day in Nauvoo was only a half day. I let the kids decide how to spend it. They chose to go back to the Pioneer Pastimes and dress up, and play games. Abi was determined to learn the trick behind the Fox and Geese game and beat it. After numerous tries, she did it. She would not give up.
Sariah's favorite place was the floor (fitting, since she couldn't walk at this point!), with something in her mouth. Aarrgghh! It is sooo hard to keep babies from putting foreign objects in their mouths!
We managed to squeeze in to the crowded small theater for a performance of Anna Amanda. As an opening act, these missionaries had their puppets and were cracking jokes and asking questions of the audience. One round of questions was to guess the name of the Disney movie that a particular song was from. The sister barely had "flower,  gleam, and glow," out of her mouth before Abi's hand shot up. She was chosen to answer the question, and she got it right. TANGLED. She BETTER get it right, since she is absolutely obsessed with the movie and everything Rapunzel.
The play was really quite cute. This young girl, Anna Amanda, picks up various objects from other characters, because she thinks that if she has this or that like so and so, she can be important too. Cute story. The actors, which are missionaries, do a fantastic job.
Abi was so excited to talk to this missionary. We had seen her in another performance. She was quite nice to talk with Abi.
Once the performance was over, we ate lunch, and loaded up in the van for an afternoon drive. We were driving 5ish hours to visit our friends, the Maschger family. We hadn't seen them since December, when they left Maryland. They were staying in Missouri, and it was a perfect opportunity to stop and say hello. I made the 5 hour trip in just over 4 hours, since we didn't have to stop even ONCE, because kids were sleeping or otherwise occupied with books and movies. Plus, it probably helped that I was speeding...just a little bit. :) We arrived in time for the kids to play for a couple of hours, and for us to enjoy some pizza before we checked into a hotel for the night.
