The Community Center down the street hosted a Family Fun Fair. There was food and games, and a bike rodeo. A bike rodeo is simply an opportunity for young children to learn about road safety from a police officer. Then they have to bike a course on their own using their new found knowledge. After they participate, they can then enter their name into a drawing for a free bike or bike helmet. Abi and Everett both participated. When it came time for the drawing, we quickly found out that it was Abi's lucky day. She won a brand new bike! We had just been discussing earlier that week that she was quickly out growing her bike.
She wasted no time in taking a tour of the neighborhood on her new wheels.Unfortunately, Everett wasn't as lucky. He won a bike helmet. If they had had as many boy bikes as they did girl bikes, he would have received a bike as well. He didn't mind. He was excited to have a new helmet. I guess it gave him some courage, because he was coasting down the little hill with his feet up. He was usually very hesitant to go too fast.
